Spay, neuter services

High-quality, low-cost spay and neuter services will be offered this weekend at the Denver Animal Shelter, 1241 W. Bayaud St. This Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, get your dog "fixed" for just $50. On Sunday, Feb. 26, it's your cat's turn. The services, which are offered by the Dumb Friends League, include age-appropriate vaccines. For more information, click here.

Furry Scurry

Save the date for the 2012 Furry Scurry, Saturday, May 5, at 9 a.m. in Denver's Washington Park. The 2-mile walk for animals benefits the Dumb Friends League and its efforts to care for as many as 24,000 homeless pets every year. The event features refreshments, demos, merchandise, fun contests and more. Registration fee is $50; entrants can raise pledges and win prizes. For more information, click here.

Pet-friendly yard

Have you ever wondered how to prevent your dog from digging, escaping, killing grass and eating sprinklers? Elizabeth Bublitz, owner of Pawfriendly Landscapes, will discuss how to create a pet-friendly yard on March 1, 6:30-9 p.m. at Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St. Cost is $32 for members, $37 for nonmembers.
