Afternoon Headlines: Snow continues in parts of NE Colorado, clearing overnight



Hundreds of flights canceled at DIA
A total of 600 arriving and departing flights were canceled Thursday night and this morning at Denver International Airport, and delays are expected as the storm continues to wallop the Denver area. About 5 inches of snow fell at the airport overnight and crews started clearing runways and de-icing planes as early as 3 p.m. on Thursday, said Jenny Schiavone, spokeswoman for DIA.

Mother of 3-year-old found dead under Sterling mobile home officially charged with murder
The mother of 3-year-old Caleb Pacheco, whose body was found tucked underneath a Sterling mobile home last week, has been officially charged in her son's death.

Strong jobs report sends Dow to highest since '08
The Dow Jones industrial average has closed at its highest level since before the 2008 financial crisis. The Dow jumped 157 points Friday to close at 12,862. That's the highest since May 2008.

Hiring surges in January; jobless rate at 8.3 pct.
In a long-awaited surge of hiring, companies added 243,000 jobs in January—across the economy, up and down the pay scale and far more than just about anyone expected. Unemployment fell to 8.3 percent, the lowest in three years.

Factory orders up 1.1 percent in December
Orders to U.S. factories rose in December, supported by a rebound in business investment in capital goods such as heavy machinery.
