More... romps Blessings of the Animals Oct. 4 Regardless of your religious affiliations or philosophy, the Dumb Friends League invites you to join in the celebration of all creatures – great and small. In conjunction with the traditional feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the League will hold a Blessing of the Animals on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Bring your four-legged friends to the Dumb Friends League, 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver, where a brief ceremony will be held in the Sheilagh R. Malo Pet Memorial Garden. Admission is free, and refreshments and snacks will be served following the ceremony. Here is a list of things to do as part of your pet preparedness plan: • Contact your veterinarian for a list of preferred boarding kennels and facilities. • Ask your local animal shelter if they provide emergency shelter or foster care for pets. • Identify hotels or motels outside of your immediate area that accept pets. • Ask friends and relatives outside your immediate area if they would be willing to take in your pet.
