All Things Avs

Yip out 4-6 weeks
Avalanche forward Brandon Yip, who broke a forearm blocking a shot in Friday’s preseason game against St. Louis, will miss four to six weeks, Colorado coach Joe Sacco said tonight after an impressive 3-0 win over Dallas. Sacco also said defenseman Jan Hejda’s timetable remains the same — two to four weeks from a knee

All Things Broncos

Why didn't Williams and Moreno play?
It is hard, now, to describe D.J. Williams and Knowshon Moreno as active for Sunday’s 17-14 loss to Tennessee. Both players were included on the active 46-man gameday roster, but had the Broncos not had such a dire injury situation elsewhere, both could have easily been inactive. Neither player took the field for a snap

Today's Colleges

Hansen says CU must get creative when Richardson is shut down
For the second week in a row, Colorado sprinter/receiver Paul Richardson apparently was targeted in the opponent's defensive game plan with big, boldface letters and maybe an exclamation mark or three. Look for that to continue if CU doesn't adjust any better to Richardson getting shut down.

Today's Rockies

Ellsbury's 14th-inning homer gives Red Sox split of doubleheader against Yankees
Is the worst over? The Red Sox and their jittery fans have to hope so after Boston's 7-4, 14-inning victory over the New York Yankees in the second game of Sunday's day-night doubleheader at Yankee Stadium.

Dave Krieger

Dave Krieger: Daniel Graham just doing his job and winning
Daniel Graham has always been polite, but he's nev- er had too much to say. At Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of Colorado, during five seasons with the Patriots and four with the Broncos, he always let his play speak for him.

Woody Paige

Woody Paige: One yard, so many arguments
The Broncos made the right choice, but the wrong call. Second-guessing, third-reacting and fifth-hindsighting over the decision to sacrifice a sure field goal for an uncertain touchdown doesn't matter now.
