Today's Avalanche

Enforcer roles now becoming thing of the past in the NHL
The days of teams keeping players around only for their fists appear to be coming to a close. Not only is fighting down markedly, many teams no longer have designated "enforcers" — whereas nearly every team did from the 1970s until as late as two or three years ago.

All Things Avs

Postgame Avs-Blues – Irish eyes were smilin'
Now THAT was a performance to warrant writing something very positive tonight. I haven’t seen an Avalanche player put on a show like that in a third period – in all phases of the game – like Ryan O’Reilly did tonight in a long time. You almost wanted to play the Rocky theme and run

Today's Broncos

Broncos' Tim Tebow sees a familiar image in mirror
Around Broncos Nation, the fourth-quarter magic started one week shy of 28 years ago. John Elway's late-game heroics even earned nicknames — The Drive, The Fumble, The Drive II.

Today's Colleges

Fort Lewis wins national title in men's soccer
Berekk Blackwell knocked in a header off Joey Madigan's corner kick with only a minute and a half off the clock in the first overtime to give Fort Lewis (24-1-0) a 3-2 win over Lynn (14-5-3) in the NCAA Division II men's soccer championship game Saturday.

Today's Nuggets

Nuggets' George Karl Q&A: Nene an important cog
He still can't taste the wine. About a year-and-a-half after beating throat cancer, George Karl remains unable to drink wine, an inconvenience, to be sure, on a trip to Italy last week. While he tries acupuncture on his throat to help revitalize his taste buds, he'll have to settle for his other favorite indulgence in life.

Today's Rockies

Renck: Rockies' Nolan Arenado ready for Troy Tulowitzki workout
The Rockies' odds of improving next season will increase this week in Las Vegas. Monday, Nolan Arenado arrives in Vegas to begin winter workouts with Troy Tulowitzki, Jason Giambi and, at some point soon, Dexter Fowler.

Today's Skiing

U.S.'s Weibrecht finishes 10th in comeback season
The last time Andrew Weibrecht charged through a snowstorm to finish 10th on the Birds of Prey, he was wearing the No. 53 race bib and few in the crowd had ever heard of him.

Mark Kiszla

Kiszla: Barnett would put CSU football back into the conversation
Want to get people talking about Colorado State football again? Hire Gary Barnett. Where else will the Rams find a coach with Big Ten and Big 12 conference championships on his resume?

Woody Paige

Woody Paige: Tebow vs. Ponder QB rivalry set for latest battle
Christian vs. Christian. Tebowing this, and Pondering that. The quarterbacks in the Broncos-Vikings game today were born six months apart and played college football 149 driving miles apart.
