Valor Christian rockets to success and gains its share of detractors
Valor has fielded varsity sports for a mere four years but it has already filled a trophy case. It has won three consecutive state football titles. The girls soccer team, which plays in the spring, has played in the state title game all three seasons. Boys track won state in the 4x100-meter relay and 4x200 last spring. Heck, the boys golf team won state the first year it fielded a team.

TJ Galiardi's one-time shorthanded blast from rookie Gabriel Landeskog lifted the Avalanche to a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings tonight at the Pepsi Center.

Minneapolis _ Broncos receiver-returner Eddie Royal, who missed two practices this week because of a toe-ankle injury suffered last week while returning a second-quarter kickoff at San Diego, is dressed and will play today.

Wearing smiles as bright as first place, the Broncos walked into the locker room Sunday after winning for the fifth consecutive time, and coach John Fox greeted each player at the entrance with a handshake.

Most of these victories only a mother could love. "Sometimes I just wish Timmy wouldn't wait so late, but they sure have been exciting." So said Pat Tebow, who gave birth to this legend.
