Colorado offers 45-day tax amnesty window
Colorado will offer delinquent taxpayers a 45-day window to catch up on overdue taxes without penalty or criminal prosecution. The amnesty, which lasts Oct. 1 to Nov. 15, covers individual or business taxes due the state on or before Dec. 31, 2010.

Broncos' Eddie Royal out at least two weeks
After being forced to play - and somehow win - a game without five starters, John Fox today said he's "very hopeful" at least a couple players will be able to return this week.

Centennial basks in month-long Ikea blitz
Ikea and Centennial officials planned for five days of overflow traffic for the store's grand opening July 27, but the crowds lasted for nearly a month. The Swedish furniture retailer's opening was a boon to Centennial and is adding to a fiscally brighter environment in a time of worries about continued economic doldrums.

Denver Zoo the greenest
The Association of Zoos and Aquariums has awarded its first Green Award to the Denver Zoo for its sustainability practices.

A handful of new breakfast restaurants -- including the locally operated Tangerine and the first entry from Denver's Snooze -- recently have opened or soon will make their debut in Boulder County.


Run, Ryan, run: Frazier jogs in new campaign ad for Aurora mayor
Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier, who is running for mayor, shows off his physique in a campaign ad unveiled today. The ad opens with Frazier jogging and talking about perseverance. He then appears in a suit talking about jobs.

Dems launch Spanish TV ad in Colorado to sell Obama's jobs plan
Continuing what is an aggressive sell on President Barack Obama's jobs plan of $450 billion in new stimulus, Democrats launched TV ads Monday in Spanish aimed at Hispanic voters in Colorado and other states with influential Latino populations.

Romney swings through Georgia as Perry plans visit
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will swing through Georgia to raise money. His Republican rival Rick Perry will hit the state for the first time next week.


Broncos in bad company with penalties
Heading into tonight's NFL game there are four teams with at least 17 penalties flagged and accepted in the first two weeks of the season. That is not the company the Broncos want to be keep.

Rookies fight in Avs' final scrimmage
The Avalanche completed training camp Monday in entertaining fashion. In capping three days of nine combined scrimmages at South Suburban Family Sports Center, the final 45-minute session was the undoubtedly the closest thing to a real game.

Rankings: Grand Junction remains on top, but Grandview inching closer in 5A football poll
Things are a little tighter at the top of the Class 5A football poll. Grand Junction remains on top for the second week in a row, but second-ranked Grandview gained some ground after its 31-21 win over Bear Creek — the Wolves' second statement win in as many weeks.
