Denver police investigate overnight homicide
A man was stabbed and killed in his Denver apartment Wednesday night. At 10:33 p.m., officers were called to an apartment complex at 1525 Perry St., on a report of a possible shooting or stabbing, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department.

Colorado economy "healthy" in August but business confidence down
Colorado's economy continued to expand in August, although it slowed slightly since July, according to a survey released today. The Goss Business Conditions Index, based on a survey of Colorado supply managers, was a healthy 53.8 in August, although it declined from July's 54.2.

Denver one of the most vulnerable cities to online threats
Denver ranks eighth among U.S. cities as being most vulnerable to online threats, according to AVG Technologies, an Amsterdam-based computer software security provider.

Stock indexes turned lower in light trading Thursday, led by banks and industrial companies.



Coffman wants to end Peace Corps in China
Rep. Mike Coffman wants the Peace Corps out of China. Coffman, R-Aurora, said Wednesday he was shocked during a recent visit to China that most of the Peace Corps volunteers are teaching English in Chinese universities, rather than serving underdeveloped rural areas.

Former Avalanche prospect Wade Belak, who played with five NHL teams before retiring in March, was found dead Wednesday in Toronto. He was 35.

Texas QB Connor Wood transferring to Colorado
The season doesn't start until Saturday and Colorado first-year coach Jon Embree earned his first victory Wednesday. Connor Wood made it official. The redshirt freshman quarterback is transferring from Texas to Colorado.
