The city will appeal a Denver Civil Service Commission decision to reinstate two police officers fired after the videotaped beating of a man outside a LoDo club, City Attorney Doug Friednash said today.

A Russian jet carrying a top ice hockey team crashed just after takeoff Wednesday, killing at least 43 people and leaving two others critically injured, officials said. It was one of the worst plane crashes ever involving a sports team.

A police commander said Wednesday that authorities will not issue a trespassing ticket to a Colorado State University student whose legs were severed when she tried to hop a moving train.
