NHL News and Views, Sept. 19 – Thoughts on Drew Doughty holdout and more
News: I know this comes as a surprise, but a pro athlete and his team can’t agree on the value of a contract, and so we have a holdout situation. We have it in Los Angeles, where Drew Doughty turned down a reported seven-year deal worth an average of $6.8 million per. Views: This will

All Things Broncos

Broncos, Chargers, Raiders tied in AFC West
The Broncos, 24-22 winners against the Bengals, were the only team in the AFC West to win on Sunday. The Chargers lost at New England; the Raiders lost a crazy game to Buffalo; and Kansas City was blown out in Detroit. That leaves San Diego, Oakland and the Broncos tied atop the AFC West standings,

Today's Post Preps

Cherry Creek's Gersoff skilled standout in lacrosse, field hockey
When she's playing the game in which sticks have webbing, Anya Gersoff is all full-stride freestyle, intent on making the goalie's life miserable. When she plays the game with the sticks shaped like American Revolution-era J's, Gersoff is all about making the next save.

Today's Rockies

Pablo Sandoval big again, as Giants roll the Rockies 12-5 at Coors Field
Two hitters into things, Esmil Rogers had served up a two-run homer to Mike Fontenot. The Giants hit five more long balls, two by Pablo Sandoval in an eight-run fourth inning, in a 12-5 victory that gave them a sweep of the four-game series.

Mark Kiszla

Mark Kiszla: Broncomania still worth a five-hour drive for real fan Hoag
Lost amid the bickering about Tim Tebow is what might well be the real problem for the Broncos: apathy. Remember when the no-shows were lustily booed by fans at home games? No more.

Dave Krieger

Dave Krieger: Broncos win the John Fox way: defense and a running game
So you want to know what John Fox football looks like? This is it. Get used to it. Sure, there may be the occasional 52-yard touchdown pass to Eric Decker when you least expect it, when the offense has thrown up so many clouds of dust you can barely see it.

Woody Paige

Woody Paige: Banged up Broncos pull out improbable victory over Bengals
Kyle Orton saved his job; Tim Tebow got to play — at wide receiver; Von Miller got his first NFL sack; Robert Ayers got in Andy Dalton's face; the Broncos rushed for 135 yards, and they stopped the Bengals on fourth-and-one, then again on fourth down in the final seconds to preserve a hard-earned, hard-luck two-point victory.
