As firefighters battled a two-building blaze in downtown Fort Collins this morning, more than 4,000 gallons of water per minute was being hosed on the structures.

Man shot in Highlands Ranch on Sunday in serious condition
A Highlands Ranch man with a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital Sunday afternoon.

Denver to open major bridge in Stapleton area this week
Denver officials celebrated completion of the Central Park Boulevard Interchange project this morning, a $50 million venture that includes a new bridge over Interstate 70 linking the Stapleton area with the Northfield shopping complex on the north side of I-70.

Denver near weather record today
Denver is on pace to break a record high temperature for this day. At 1:44 p.m. the National Weather Service said that Denver hit 78 degrees, which is one degree shy of the record for Oct. 24 set in 1999.


Takeovers, anticipated European deal lift stocks
Stocks gained steadily Monday on a round of corporate takeovers and reports that Europe's bailout fund will be larger than anticipated. The Dow Jones industrial average was up nearly 130 points in the late afternoon.

Yahoo shares rise as Google enters takeover talk
