Two students face charges after guns found at a Douglas County school
A 19-year-old student faces charges for bringing a handgun to a Douglas County school earlier this month. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was alerted that a vehicle parked at Chaparral High School possibly had guns inside it, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Colorado unemployment rises to 7.9 percent
Colorado's unemployment rate rose to 7.9 percent in April, the first rise in the unemployment figure in three months.

Bicyclist smashes into the side of a moving police car
A bicyclist was taken to the hospital this morning after she apparently ran a stop sign and slammed into the side of a moving Denver Police patrol car.

Despite receiving his endorsement Friday, Rep. Doug Lamborn said he does not agree with Florida Rep. Allen West's comments that 76 House Democrats are members of the communist party — including Rep. Jared Polis, of Boulder.

Vote Vets organization hammers Coffman through social media for Obama apology
If you follow Colorado politics on Twitter, then you're likely to know the hash-tag "#COpolitics." And since audio from earlier this week about U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, saying that President Barack Obama "in his heart, he's not American" went viral, the liberal VoteVets.org has hammered the two-term Republican congressman for his apology statement.


Colorado Avalanche re-signs captain Milan Hejduk to 1-year deal
The Avalanche has re-signed forward Milan Hejduk to a one-year contract the team announced. According to a league source, Hejduk will make $2 million. "My family and I are very excited to continue my career here in Denver," Hejduk said in a team release.

Tim Tebow influenced by work, life at family's orphanage in Philippines
The last time Tim Tebow visited his father's orphanage here in the remote hills of Mindanao island, he stood at the edge of a grassy yard and told the children to make a loop with their arms. Then, to their amazement, he threw a football right through them.
