HOUSTON—The Astrodome was once the envy of other cities, a fully air conditioned facility with a translucent roof that kept out the heat and humidity, gave synthetic grass its name, made Houston a sports entertainment destination and sparked the imaginations of baseball lovers, concert-goers and some of the country's most creative minds.

Broncos DT Bannan: "Football comes with a price"
Broncos defensive tackle Justin Bannan has played 10 full seasons in the NFL, and on Tuesday, the NFL veteran articulated very well his thoughts on one of the league's hottest issues: player safety and the long-term health of its players. Bannan, 33, said he "tries not to" think about the long-term effects his playing career might ultimately have on his body. All he knows is that he loves the sport now.

Rockies' Herrera headed to DL after hurting hamstring; LeMahieu on the way
MIAMI — Jonathan Herrera started the game, leading off for the Rockies. But he didn’t finish it. The infielder strained his hamstring and will land on the disabled list. “It’s not good. It’s not good at all,” Herrera said. “It’s just bad luck.” DJ LeMahieu will replace him, called up after the Triple-A game tonight.
