During a three-hour interview with deputies, former Arapahoe County Sheriff Patrick Sullivan admitted to smoking methamphetamines, giving an at-risk adult the date rape drug, then taking advantage of the man sexually.

A Jefferson County jury convicted former Alameda High School coach Wesley Specht this morning of four criminal counts related to sex with a 17-year-old student and possessing more than 20 sexually graphic photographs of three girls.

DNA could exonerate man jailed for 20 years in Palisade murder
Robert Dewey has spent nearly 20 years behind bars for the 1994 rape and strangling death of a Palisade woman, and he was expected to die in prison.


Stocks edge higher on Wall Street; Amazon surges
Stocks are trading slightly higher Friday as investors weigh corporate profit gains against disappointing economic news. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 31 points to 13,236 at midday. The Standard & Poor's 500 edged up two points to 1,402. The Nasdaq composite rose 15 points to 3,065.

Tempers and props ruled the Colorado Senate during a debate urging Congress to adopt the failed Blunt Amendment that would allow insurance plans to deny contraception coverage on moral and religious grounds.

Colorado overhaul of post-Columbine discipline advances
The Colorado Senate approved a bill that overhauls school discipline policies and erases zero-tolerance rules adopted after the Columbine shootings. The proposal passed Friday on a 32-3 vote. The House will now consider it.
